Tuvalu

Capital of: Funafuti

Funafuti is the capital of Tuvalu, a Polynesian island nation; the government is centered in Vaiaku on Fongafale islet within the Funafuti atoll. The other options are capitals of nearby countries: Tarawa (Kiribati), Apia (Samoa), and Honiara (Solomon Islands). Tuvalu consists of nine tiny islands/atolls and is one of the world’s least populous and lowest-lying countries, making it especially vulnerable to sea-level rise; its .tv internet domain provides notable revenue. Memory tip: Tuvalu and Funafuti both have two “u”s, and you can think “Fun on TV” to link Tuvalu’s .tv with Funafuti, its capital.
