Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Capital of: Kingstown

Kingstown is the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, situated on the southwest coast of the main island, Saint Vincent. It’s the country’s political and economic hub, nicknamed the “City of Arches,” and home to the historic 1765 Botanical Gardens—among the oldest in the Western Hemisphere—and Fort Charlotte overlooking the harbor. Remember: “King” crowns the nation—Kingstown is the capital. The other options are places within the Grenadines: Port Elizabeth is the main town on Bequia; Bequia itself is an island; and Union Island is another island in the chain. So while they’re notable destinations, only Kingstown serves as the national capital.
