Palau

Capital of: Ngerulmud

Ngerulmud is correct because Palau moved its national capital from Koror to a newly built government complex in Ngerulmud, located in Melekeok State on Babeldaob Island, in 2006. Koror remains the largest city and former capital, while Melekeok is the state’s name (not the capital), and “Amelekeo” is a misspelling. Fun fact: Ngerulmud is among the least-populated national capitals in the world. The relocation aimed to distribute development beyond Koror and make use of Babeldaob’s larger land area. Memory tip: “New rule moved to Ngerulmud” — the government’s “new rule” moved from Koror to Ngerulmud in Melekeok.
