Norway

Capital of: Oslo

Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway, home to the Storting (parliament), the government, and the Royal Palace. Located on the Oslofjord, it’s a cultural and economic hub and famously hosts the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony at Oslo City Hall. Don’t confuse it with other Scandinavian capitals: Stockholm is Sweden, Copenhagen is Denmark, and Helsinki is Finland. A handy memory tip: Norway → “NOrway” and “OSlo” both start with O sounds, and “Oslofjord” ties the city to Norway’s coast. Historically, Oslo dates back to around 1040, was renamed Christiania after a 1624 fire, and reclaimed the name Oslo in 1925.
