Denmark
Capital of: Copenhagen
Copenhagen is Denmark’s capital and largest city. It houses the national government at Christiansborg Palace (parliament, Supreme Court, and the prime minister’s office) and the royal family at Amalienborg. Situated on the islands of Zealand and Amager, it anchors the Øresund region and connects to Malmö, Sweden, via the Øresund Bridge.
By contrast, Aarhus is the main city of Jutland, Odense is on Funen and famed as Hans Christian Andersen’s birthplace, and Esbjerg is a major North Sea port. Memory tip: Capital and Crown both start with C—think Crown in Copenhagen.
